Marie Anna Lee, formerly Hannigová, was raised in Prague, Czech Republic in the family of illustrator Alena Nievaldová. She first came to USA in 1996 to pursue studies in Advertising and later in Graphic Design. She lived in Hong Kong from 2007 to 2009. She now teaches design at University of the Pacific, USA.
